If you are accessing the Site on behalf of an entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

You must be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction to form a binding contract) to use the Site. The Site indexes and categorizes web novels, stores their metadata, and provides links to where the chapters can be read. The Site does not host or store any novel content directly.

For readers, it acts as a centralized management layer to curate and track favorites from multiple publishing platforms, including customizable reading lists (e.g., "reading now," "read next"), the ability to track your current reading position (your last-read chapter) and to keep private personal notes on novels in your library, chapter update notifications, personalized collections for sharing, reviews and ratings, and a recommendation service that suggests novels based on favorite genres and tags, WNF Score rankings, Reader Sentiment, and user activity.

For authors, it drives traffic via direct links to external publishing platforms, while native features—such as enhanced visibility through WNF Score rankings, the Accolade System, and promotional tools—support discovery and promotion.

To further improve clarity, searchability, and user experience, WNF generates and incorporates enhanced metadata, including our proprietary novel tag and genre system, synopsis summaries and rephrasings, WNF Score calculations for rankings, Reader Sentiment (an aggregated, WNF-curated indication of how readers have received a novel, derived from reader reviews), and other elements tailored to the needs of readers and authors. Where the same novel is published on multiple source platforms, WNF may automatically recognize and link those listings as a single unified entry, presenting community statistics aggregated across the sources while retaining each platform's individual listing. Such enhanced metadata is provided by WNF on an "as-is" basis for discovery purposes. Additional community features, like user reviews, ratings, and author tools (e.g., the Accolade System described below), may also be available to foster engagement.

WNF also offers an optional companion browser extension ("WNF Companion") for supported desktop browsers. When you choose to install it and sign in with your Account, it helps keep your reading position up to date by detecting which chapter you are viewing on supported source platforms and syncing that position to your Account. Use of the extension is optional and is governed by these Terms and our Privacy Policy; you may revoke its access to your Account at any time from your account settings. Installation and ongoing use of the extension are also governed by the dedicated WNF Companion Extension Terms of Service, which supplements these Terms with extension-specific provisions (license grant, acceptable use, reading-data accuracy, updates, termination).

In addition to its discovery and tracking features, WNF publishes editorial and informational content, including essays, guides, reviews, and commentary related to web fiction culture, writing craft, platform dynamics, and industry trends (the "WNF Codex"). Such content is provided for informational and editorial purposes only and does not affect indexing, rankings, or visibility of novels on the Site.

To access certain features of the Site, you may need to create an account ("Account") using either OAuth (which collects your email address) or a native WNF account (which collects your email address and password). You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information required for registration and to update such information as necessary. You are responsible for safeguarding your Account credentials and for all activities occurring under your Account. Notify us immediately at [email protected] of any unauthorized use. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your Account for any reason, including violations of these Terms, with or without notice.

You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not use the Site in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Site; interfere with any other party's use; or violate any applicable laws, including those related to intellectual property, privacy, or data protection.

To protect the integrity of the WNF community for both readers and authors — and to ensure that reviews, ratings, collections, and discovery features reflect genuine engagement rather than artificial manipulation — each individual may maintain only one active Account on the Site unless explicitly authorized by WNF for a designated purpose.

Creating, operating, or controlling multiple accounts without prior WNF authorization is strictly prohibited. Unauthorized alternate accounts ("alt accounts") undermine the platform in numerous ways, including but not limited to: manipulating reviews and ratings, inflating follower or reading list counts, circumventing account suspensions or bans, and gaming discovery and ranking systems.

Consequences: If WNF determines that a user is operating unauthorized multiple accounts, all associated accounts may be suspended or permanently terminated without prior notice. For authors, novels linked to any offending account may be removed from the WNF index. WNF reserves the right to use automated and manual detection methods to identify unauthorized alt accounts.

The Site allows users, including authors and readers, to submit, post, or display content such as reviews, ratings, comments, and novel information ("User Content"). You are solely responsible for any User Content you post, upload, or otherwise make available through the Site. You agree not to post User Content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, harassing, fraudulent, or otherwise objectionable, or that infringes on any third party's rights.

WNF exists to help readers find great novels and help authors reach new audiences. Trustworthy reviews and ratings are central to that mission — they protect readers from misleading recommendations and protect authors from unfair competitive sabotage. All ratings, reviews, and similar content posted natively on the Site must be genuine, based on personal experience, and reflect honest opinions.

Prohibited Conduct: The following actions are strictly prohibited and constitute violations of these Terms:

• Using alternate accounts to post reviews on your own or others' novels (see Section 4.3).
• Coordinating with others to artificially inflate or deflate ratings, including organized review brigading or review bombing campaigns.
• Soliciting, purchasing, or exchanging fake reviews, whether for compensation or reciprocal benefit.
• Posting reviews on novels you have not read or meaningfully engaged with.
• Retaliatory reviewing — targeting another author's work with negative reviews in response to criticism, competition, or personal disputes.

Consequences: Violations will result in immediate and permanent suspension or termination of all associated Accounts. For authors, novels linked to offending accounts may be removed from the WNF index. WNF may also reverse any rating impacts caused by manipulative activity. We employ both automated and manual moderation, including review pattern analysis and behavioral signals, to detect and prevent manipulation.

By submitting User Content to the Site, you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, distribute, display, and create derivative works from such content in connection with the Site and our services (e.g., for indexing, promotion, or analytics). You also grant other users a limited license to view and interact with your User Content as permitted by the Site's features. We reserve the right to remove or edit User Content at our discretion.

As a user feature specifically offered to authors by WNF, the Accolade System allows eligible authors to request the addition of verified accolades, awards, and recognitions earned by their novels from any external platform. Certain accolades, at WNF's sole discretion, may contribute to a boost in the novel's 'WNF Score' for ranking purposes on the Site.

To submit a request, authors must provide verifiable evidence (e.g., official certificates, links to awarding platforms, or screenshots with clear provenance). We review all submissions for authenticity and reserve the right to approve, deny, or remove accolades at any time.

Prohibited Conduct: Submitting false reports, falsified evidence, or any misleading information about accolades for the purpose of boosting rankings is strictly prohibited. Violations will result in immediate and permanent suspension or termination of the author's Account, removal of the submitted accolades, and potential reversal of any associated ranking benefits.

From time to time, WNF may accept editorial contributions, essays, or other written submissions from community members or external contributors, including for publication in the WNF Codex. By submitting such content, you represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights to submit the content and that its publication does not infringe any third-party rights.

By submitting editorial content, you grant WNF a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to edit, format, publish, display, distribute, and promote such content in connection with the Site and its editorial offerings, including the WNF Codex. Attribution may be provided at WNF's discretion.

WNF's discovery tools — including WNF Score rankings, Reader Sentiment, collections, reading lists, and recommendations — are designed to surface quality content fairly for readers and provide honest visibility for authors. Manipulating these systems harms both audiences and undermines the value of the platform for everyone.

Prohibited Conduct: The following actions are strictly prohibited:

• Artificially manipulating WNF Score rankings, Reader Sentiment, collection statistics, follower counts, or any discovery or recommendation metrics.
• Creating fake reading lists or collections solely to boost a novel's visibility or perceived popularity.
• Coordinating campaigns to inflate "reading now," "read next," or similar engagement indicators.
• Using automated tools, bots, scripts, or browser extensions to simulate genuine user activity or game engagement metrics.
• Deliberately misrepresenting novel metadata (genres, tags, word counts, or other attributes) to gain unfair ranking or discovery advantages.

Violations may result in suspension or permanent termination of the offending Account, removal of affected novels from the index, and reversal of any artificially gained benefits.

All original content created or produced by WNF, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, software, and derivatives thereof (the "Site Content"), is the property of WNF or its licensors and is protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Metadata gathered from novel source websites during the indexation process is reproduced solely for the purpose of presenting accurate descriptions of novels to enhance user discovery and tracking experiences for readers and authors; such metadata remains the property of its original sources, and WNF claims no ownership over it. This includes all editorial articles, essays, guides, and original written works published under the WNF Codex. Unauthorized use of Site Content may violate copyright or other laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Site and Site Content for your personal, non-commercial purposes. This license does not include any resale or commercial use of the Site, its contents, or any derivative works. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from Site Content without our prior written consent.

If you provide us with feedback, suggestions, or ideas regarding the Site ("Feedback"), you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use such Feedback for any purpose, without compensation or attribution.

The Site contains links to third-party websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party websites. You acknowledge and agree that WNF is not responsible or liable for any damage or loss caused by or in connection with the use of any third-party websites. Use such links at your own risk.

The Site may integrate third-party services, including analytics tools such as Yandex Metrica and advertising networks, to monitor site performance, track user interactions, serve personalized ads, and improve services. These tools collect data (e.g., IP addresses, browsing behavior) in accordance with their respective privacy policies and our Privacy Policy. WNF is free to use and is supported in part by advertising. The Site may display a limited amount of advertising from third-party ad networks, alongside WNF's own in-house promotions for featured novels. Your interactions with such ads (e.g., clicks) are governed by the third party's terms and policies. We do not endorse any advertised products or services, and we are not responsible for any issues arising from them. To ensure compliance with applicable advertising standards, we prohibit any user attempts to artificially inflate ad interactions (e.g., via bots or fake clicks), which may result in Account termination.

In addition to the prohibitions in Section 5, you agree not to:

• Upload viruses, malware, or harmful code.
• Scrape, copy, or extract data without permission.
• Systematically scrape, copy, reproduce, or republish editorial content from the WNF Codex without prior written permission, except as permitted by normal web browsing, caching, or search engine indexing.
• Impersonate others or engage in spam, phishing, or fraudulent activities.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site or others' Accounts.
• Promote illegal content or violate export controls.
• Create, operate, or control multiple accounts without WNF authorization (see Section 4.3).
• Manipulate reviews, ratings, or rankings through coordinated or deceptive means (see Section 5.2).
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the Site in ways that simulate genuine user activity (see Section 5.6).
• File false or abusive DMCA takedown requests or ownership claims intended to harm other authors or suppress competition.
• Engage in targeted harassment, brigading, or coordinated attacks against other users or their content.
• Circumvent account suspensions or bans by creating new accounts or using other means to regain access.

We may use automated systems to detect violations, and repeated or severe infractions may lead to legal action.

The Site and its contents are provided on an "as-is" and "as available" basis. WNF makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, regarding the operation of the Site; the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any information, content, or materials; or that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Without limiting the foregoing, editorial and informational content published on the Site, including within the WNF Codex, is provided for general informational purposes only and does not constitute professional, legal, financial, or publishing advice.

In no event shall WNF, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Site, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability shall not exceed CAD $100 (or the equivalent in your currency).

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless WNF, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorney's fees, arising out of or in any way connected with: (i) your access to or use of the Site; (ii) your violation of these Terms; (iii) your User Content; or (iv) your infringement of any third-party rights.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site or your Account at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violations of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Site ceases immediately, and you must delete any cached Site Content.

WNF reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on the Site with a revised effective date. Your continued use of the Site after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. It is your responsibility to check this page periodically for updates.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Canada, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the federal or provincial courts located in Canada. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of such courts. We encourage informal resolution first via [email protected] before escalating.

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and WNF regarding the Site. If any provision is held invalid, the remainder shall continue in full force. No waiver of any term shall be deemed a further or continuing waiver. We may assign these Terms without your consent; you may not.
